What does CETA Guardianship provide?

The scope of duties of a CETA guardian is threefold:

  •  Make contact with the student at the time of arrival in Australia
  • Assist the student in buying and activating mobile phone SIM card (first time)
  • Assist the student in opening bank account / debit card (first time)
  • Show the student how to use Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) card.

Extra services

  • Further assistance with SIM card or internet package
  • Further assistance with bank account or debit card or money management
  • Organise extra travel if the student needs to be picked up at school or boarding house.

    Make contact with the student at the time of arrival in Australia

    Be contactable 24 hours/day via phone, text message, email and available to deal with emergency situations

    Seeing a doctor when homestay host or boarding staff are unable to take student to the doctor (attend appointment with student in the city) 

    Contact student at least once a week for first four weeks, then fortnightly. Visit each term

    Complete student report at least once a term

    Assist with coordinating travel plans to return home in the holidays.

    Extra services 

    Arrange alternate accommodation in the holidays if homestays are away or boarding school is closed

    Arrange school transfer, airport pick up/drop off, exeat transfer

    Take extra time to wait for student at appointments (over and above travel time).

      Contact student at least once a week for first four weeks, fortnightly. Visit each term

      Attend parent/teacher interviews/conferences as the parent representative and follow up with reports .
